Sugar Scrub Recipes for Soft Skin
Sugar scrub your way
to softer skin starting with these four easy sugar scrub recipes using
only a few ingredients from your kitchen.
Spruce up your sugar scrub a notch with your favorite essential oils, vitamins, fragrance, fruit, or salt. Just about anything gentle and compatible with your skin may be added.
Basic Instructions for Sugar Scrubbing
- Always begin a sugar scrub with clean skin.
- Fill the palm of your hand with a
pre-made sugar scrub, and then massage the skin in a circular motion.
The sugar will dissolve naturally, but before it does it will gently
loosen dead skin cells.
- Rinse well.
- Pat the skin dry.
- Apply moisturizer.
Note: Keep all face scrubs
away from your eyes and mouth. If you have sensitive skin, or are
allergic to nuts, don't try these recipes.
When you are ready to give sugar
scrubbing a try, here are some simple sugar scrub recipes that can be
put together in less time than it takes to make a cup of hot tea.
Sugar Scrub with Lemon
- 1 cup sugar
- ½ cup olive oil
- 1 teaspoon juice from a fresh lemon,
- 3 – 5 drops peppermint essential oil (optional)
- Combine all ingredients to make a paste.
Massage paste over the skin until the sugar dissolves. Rinse body well, pat dry, apply your favorite moisturizer.
Note: If you have severe acne, or open wounds, bypass the lemons. I like the lemon because of its scent.
Sugar Scrub with Rosemary Oil
For a mind calming sugar scrub recipe, try adding lavender or rosemary oil to the Lemon Invigorating Sugar Scrub recipe above instead of peppermint oil. Not recommended for sensitive skin.
Sugar Scrub with Almond and Grapefruit Oils
- 1 cup sugar
- ¼ to ½ cup of almond oil (depending on the consistency you prefer)
- 5-10 drops grapefruit essential oil.
- Combine all ingredients to make a paste.
- If necessary, add a few drops of water.
Not recommended for sensitive skin.
Sugar Scrub with Honey
In the palm of your hand, mix a few drops of honey, 1 tablespoon sugar, and just enough water to make a paste.
Gently rub the honey and sugar
mixture on your face in circular motions. The sugar gently exfoliates
and softens, while the honey softens and nourishes the skin. Once the
sugar granules have dissolved, rinse face well, pat dry, and apply your
favorite moisturizer.
