Have you considered purchasing your first set of makeup brushes, but you really don't know what the most important makeup brushes in a starter set should be? A basic start set should have a powder brush, cheek brush, eyeliner brush, eyebrow brush/comb combination, and at least three eyeshadow brushes. You can expect to spend about $50 on nice starter set. As you discover your favorite brushes, slowly replace those in your "starter kit" with brushes of higher quality.
In my opinion, you can never have enough eyeshadow brushes. Eyeshadow brushes don't have to be expensive. Look in the makeup section at Walgreens for Essential Tools "Eye Shading Brushes" . These brushes have a nice size handle, the bristles are soft, and they cost around $4 a piece. I have a drawer full of them.
The first set of makeup brushes I bought were from a Mary Kay beauty consultant. I think they make a terrific starter set and they are reasonably priced (around $50 for the set with carrying bag). They are easy to clean, the roomy roll-out bag holds foundation, and most all the little goodies I need for everyday makeup. Is this a plug for Mary Kay? No. Do I get paid for tossing out their name? No. I just like their brushes for the price. You can purchase them through my Mary Kay consultant, or one that is nearest you by going into Mary Kay's website.
With a nice set of makeup brushes, you will be amazed at how much easier it is to apply makeup and get the results you want. They make playing with makeup fun again.
