Basics of Eyebrow Shaping
- Cleanse the eyebrow area with mild soap and water.
- Draw an outline of how you want your brows shaped. A white eyeliner pencil is a nice tool to use for this step.
- Numb the area with ice if you are sensitive to pain, otherwise, just relax, and work slowly.
- Brush the hairs on the brows straight up, and then shape along the top with scissors.
- Tweeze between the brows above the nose, removing all hair.
- Tweeze the stray fine hairs directly above the eyebrows to clean up the area.
- Finish by tweezing and shaping the bottom portion of the eyebrows using your penciled area as your guide.
- Work slowly, and remember to step back and look after tweezing only a few hairs. Some women have had the misfortune of hairs removed never growing back.
Marking Guidelines for Shaping Eyebrows
1. Vertically, hold a ruler or small straight object against the outside opening of the right nostril and up to your brow.
- Make a mark on right your eyebrow to the left of your tool.
- Repeat for the left brow; only make your mark on the right side of your tool, instead of the left.
This mark indicates where the brow should begin.
2. Vertically, hold your tool at the center of your pupil up to the brow.
- Make a mark on your right eyebrow to the left of your tool.
- Repeat for the left brow; only make your mark on the right side of your tool, instead of the left.
It is in this area where you may want to transition into an arch. All eyes differ, as well as all eyebrows. Therefore, this is not a rule set in stone, but rather a guideline to help when shaping the brow.
3. Place your tool from the outer edge of your nostril to the outer edge of the eye (where your lashes end) up to the brow.
- Make a mark on your right eyebrow to the left of your tool.
- Repeat for the left brow; only make your mark on the right side of your tool, instead of the left.
This mark indicates where your brow should end.
